A great series of articles here on the interrelationship between Nixon and the Bushes which could explain American politics over the last 50 years. The article also goes on to speculate that Watergate was a setup to take down Nixon. I found it entertaining reading.
Microsoft is taking a big gamble with Windows 8 – will be interesting to see if it works. Adding the Metro ’tiles’ interface as the default to Windows 8 is interesting – I think they are doing it even though they know it will alienate their legacy users. However, that is a interesting carrot to get developers to build metro apps – having your app come up by default when someone boots up windows would be mighty attractive. Then, the thinking would be, as users get all their favorite metro apps and are comfortable with the metro interface, they will want to have a windows phone with all the apps they know and love from their desktop.
Will this work, or will windows users get fed up and abandon Windows in favor of Apples I-OS or Android/Chrome? Its an interesting gamble, but it seems like its one Microsoft has to take. Unfortunately, I think they have alot of bugs and features to work out of the new Windows RT development platform before they will gain the love of developers, but maybe the carrot will be big enough.
